My name is Gabriele Pollmeier. As ethical and responsible breeders of healthy and beautiful Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and Shih Tzus – actually an AKC Breeder of Merit for both breeds - we occasionally have puppies available and encourage inquiries. For available puppies, click here. We have been involved in the dog show world, not only in the United States, but also in Europe, since 1974 and, usually, we personally show the dogs, although we have used a professional handler on occasion to show them. Sometimes, I place one of my retired show/breeding dogs with exceptionally great owners in private homes.
AnGa’s Star Kennels are small, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (CKCS) and Shih Tzu breeders, and an exclusive show CKCS kennel north of the city of Atlanta, in Cumming, Georgia. Established in 1995 in the US, our property is diligently guarded by our Italian Maremma, Portia, who also socializes our Cavalier and Shih Tzu puppies!
Our Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and Shih Tzu live on 6 + acres, and have plenty of exercise chasing birds, butterflies and bees. Occasionally, a cotton-tail rabbit or deer gets too close for comfort and is barked at. All our dogs and puppies live with us but sleep and eat in a separate kennel building (the brown building shown on the left). This is important for the socializing of our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and Shih Tzu puppies, as well as for our ‘human to dog’ relationship with our adult dogs. We strive to breed healthy, even-tempered and true to standard Cavalier King Charles Spaniels and Shih Tzu, which enjoy the company of people and animals and which feel at home in the show ring as well as in their owner’s house.
AnGa’s Star Kennels started in 1975 in the Republic of Ireland. Our very first show and breeding successes came with our Old English Sheepdogs (OES), of which Lady of Valentia was one of the most successful ones. In 1985 we moved to Germany, which we left in 1995 to move to the USA. In Atlanta, GA, we have found a ‘dog heaven’ for the two and four-legged members of our kennel. We decided not to show and breed OES, but to look for a smaller size breed, which was to have an easy going, loveable and loving temperament, and which was to have little or no health problems.
When I thought about a prefix (like a family name) for my Cavaliers, I could not use “AnGa’s Star” – which is the prefix for my Shih Tzu breed. Then I remembered the lovely castle in Germany, next to my mother’s house, in which I played when I was a child. Its name is ‘Haus Eulenburg’ which means, “Castle of the Owls”. My Cavalier breed prefix was derived from this childhood memory.
A Focus on Health
Needless to say, we placed special emphasis on healthy dogs in both breeds. Our puppies' eyes are CERF-ed at University of Georgia, as well as having their patellae examined and cleared before leaving us. Also, our puppies depart with a two year Health Guarantee.
We appreciate you spending time to get to know us. Should you be interested in purchasing one of our puppies, which we have occasionally available to select homes, please see our contact information on the Contact Us page.
